Markets and making

Hello! I am back after what feels like forever moving and renovating our new house over the summer. I have set up my studio in three different locations, including two different countries, it feels very nice to be settled again, even if it is still a tad chaotic!

I am back at the Amsterdam Sunday Market! Hurray! This is held every first Sunday of the month at the Westergasfabriek. It is super cool, full of gorgeous jewelry, ceramics and clothes to mention but a few things you can purchase – not to mention loads of srumy food. Any other markets that I will be taking part in over the next few months I shall let you know via my website and Facebook.

I will have a few new prints with me, including these below. I will also have them in Stitched canvas form.

Artacasa

These three framed textiles pieces will soon be hanging in Artacasa in Amsterdam.

Assemble Gallery, Seattle

Last year Emily from Assemble Gallery contacted me about showing my stitched illustrations at their Seattle based gallery. So earlier this year I started beavering away to make twelve pieces of work for them including four new textiles pieces. The exhibition will open 10th June and will run till July 6th. Assemble Gallery describe their mission and goal as a place…

”to showcase craft as modern art, while teaching both traditional and avant-garde crafting techniques in a workshop environment”

You can read more about them here, it sounds like a really great place so please is you are in the neighborhood pop in and say hello.

White on White

Three stitched canvas print pieces I have completed for the upcoming Inside Out exhibition.

Exhibition count down

Inside Out opens in Amsterdam May 7th! I have made a collection of textiles and printed work focusing on interior spaces. I do hope that you Amsterdamers can come along.

Inside Out exhibition

I rather enthusiastically planned two exhibitions back to back last year, I hadn’t banked on having to move house as well. Needless to say it’s been rather busy. I have sent all my work, mostly stitched canvas prints off to Seattle for my solo exhibition at Assemble Gallery, this begins in June.

In May I will be showing a collection of works along side Dutch Artist Christiaan Veldhuis at the ABC Treehouse, the count down is really on for this one. I am making mainly textiles work, it’s been great to get back to the cloth and thread! It’s also an opportunity for me to make a different style of work, pictures coming soon.

Christiaan and I are both artists that use recycled and found materials to produce our work. We both attempt to capture the landscape or moments of ordinary life through unconventional use of wood, plastics, textiles and fabric, that hopefully encourage you to appreciate your ordinary surroundings with a fresh perspective. It will be open from May 7th for one month, I would be absolutely delighted to see you there.

New pieces

I have been pottering away on these illustrations for a while now and I have finally stopped tweaking them! I want to make stitched canvas prints out of them all, but with preparing for two exhibitions at the moment that is going to be a slow process. I was thinking of Spring and warmer days as I was doing these drawings, but today in Amsterdam it just hasn’t stopped raining! Spring where are you?

Made by Others

Today four of my stitched canvas prints started their journey to Australia to a beautiful gallery and shop called Made by Others. So if you are in the Moss Vale area please pay them a visit.

Sunday Market

The Sunday Markets are over for this year, they were such great fun and it was so nice to meet people that found me online. Although I must say that at the last two I was very, very, very cold. I now have an even greater respect for those standing outside on my local Albert Cuyp Market in this cold weather. I think I will go back when it warms up a bit.

Thank you very much if you came by and bought some work.

ABC Treehouse, Handmade Holiday exhibition

All this week (14th – 19th December) the ABC Treehouse is holding the Handmade holiday exhibition – in order for you to purchase any last minute gifts of a little more personal or unique nature. It is well worth a visit, full of beautifully crafted items and art work. I will be in the gallery space all day Saturday 19th December.
